CURRICULUM VITAE OF DR. DAVID J. P. MARZAK

Dr. Marzak has served as adjunct, assistant, and associate professor of politics and social ethics, Academic Dean and President of Our Lady of Corpus Christi, Superintendent of Catholic Schools, and as Vice Chancellor and Chancellor of Education for the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity.

He is the creator of the World's Greatest Books aired on AT&T educational television and online at www.kolbefoundation.org. Currently, he is working for the Kolbe Foundation in conjunction with the World Apostolate of Fatima to establish a Leadership Center for Liberal Arts and Christian Civilization and Online Greatest Books courses to promote understanding and application of Catholic social teaching for social, political, and economic renewal in the modern world..

WORK EXPERIENCE

Current

1. Director of The Kolbe Foundation

Responsibilities include the foundation, incorporation, and executive direction of a non-profit educational foundation. Primary efforts include the planning, developing, and coordination of college course curricula; articulation agreements; multimedia course production for the internet and traditional classroom settings; establishing an electronic commerce website; faculty and course evaluation; finance and fund raising; maintaining and securing academic records; production and editing of streaming multimedia college lectures; electronic text production; overseeing, planning, developing, and coordinating efforts to establish community colleges in Eastern Europe; licensing and contract agreements; establishing trademarks, and copyrighting of Kolbe educational materials; marketing of educational products and services; editing of Solidarity Magazine and fund raising.

Responsible with Board for approval of annual budget, amendment of By-laws and Articles of Incorporation, policy formation, academic review and other duties associated with oversight, review, and approval of all major components involved with the governance of OLCC.

7. Chairperson Our Lady of Corpus Christi Trustee Committee for Licensure and Accreditation

Responsibilities include planning, directing, and overseeing all aspects of licensure and accreditation including Trustee Formation, Curriculum Review, Academic and Career Counseling, Finance, Administration, By-laws, Corporate Structure, Mission, Strategic Planning, and Assessment.

June 1999 – Current: 

8. Academic Dean, of Our Lady of Corpus Christi.  

Responsibilities include directing, coordinating, and planning accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the American Academy for Liberal Education; licensure by the State of Texas to operate as a college within the State of Texas; faculty assessment; articulation and inter-institutional agreements; oversee academic and career counseling; and supervision, planning, and coordination of community and distance education programs.

18. Director St. Vincent de Paul Farm

St. Vincents is a highly successful and internationally recognized Roman Catholic substance abuse rehabilitation facility in St. Augustine, Florida. Major responsibilities included the administration of the US branch of the international Communita Cenaculo, which included direct reporting to a board of trustees composed of bishops, pastors, grantors, and business leaders; implementation of policy and development of procedure; multi-media marketing; budgeting and qualitative research in Rome, Turin and Milan, Italy for institutional development.

1991 - 1994

19. Graduate Research Assistant to the Director, Dr. James Wattenbarger, recognized "Father and Architect of the Florida Community College System"at the University of Florida’s Institute of Higher Education.

Conducted empirical research pertaining to community college administration, organization, development, and planning.

1987 - 1990

20. Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach, University of Florida Gator Athletic Program.

Duties included: coaching major collegiate and Olympic athletes in all aspects of Division I strength and conditioning.  Physical conditioning included nutritional analysis, flexibity, agility, strength, speed, muscle endurance, cardiovascular endurance, and power training, which utilized traditional coaching methods assisted by advanced computer technologies.
