Kolbe's Greatest Books: Easy to Sign up for and Easy to Attend

SIGN UP TODAY: THE KOLBE'S GREATEST BOOKS PROGRAM CONSISTS OF HIGH QUALITY COLLEGE COURSES OFFERED BY EXCELLENT PROFESSORS AT AN UNEQUALLED PRICE

SYLLABUS:

Each class centers around a course syllabus; everything (books, class entrance, videos, quizzes, exams and office hours) is just a click away.

CLASS TIME:

Each course meets twice a week for 55 minutes in an online classroom wherein students interact with their professsor and each other in an audio enviornment that involves everyone.

Classes also include short 30 minute video sessions once or twice per week. The videos allow students to access each lession for review at their leisure. They are password protected, but each student is assigned a password that is good for semseter viewing.

VIDEO LECTURES AND REVIEWS:

Each video is followed by a 10 question self-grading quiz. The scores are automatically forwarded to the professor for record keeping. Although they are not used when calculating the final grade, they are intended to facilitate learning and must be taken.

Most of the readings for the course are taken from Kolbe's Greatest Books and Great Books libraries at no cost to the students.

WHAT IS NEEDED TO TAKE A COURSE:

A computer and a descent internet connection along with a microphone and an inexpensive camera. Many computers already have cameras built in; if not, they can be purchased for $20 such as the Microsoft Life Cam or between $40 - $100 at Logitech

HOW TO REGISTER:

Simply click here or on any registration link on the site. Fill out the Thomas More Application and submit. An online payment page will appear when the application is submitted. A letter will follow within 2-5 days from the Registrar's Office confirming your payment and enrollment. The professor will contact you by email with an invitation and password necessary to access videos and for entrance into the online class.

ATTENDANCE:

Classes meet twice per week for 55 minutes. Simply access the course syllabus and click on the classroom link at the sceduled time for easy access to your classroom.

QUIZZES AND TESTING:

Every video or class session is accompanied by a self-grading quiz. Although not computed into the final grade, quizzes are mandatory; the professor will recive an automatic log of each student's quizzes and quiz scores. Mid-term and Final Exams, which are counted, are given orally online and require a web-cam.

OFFICE HOURS:

Office hours will be scheduled by each professor and listed on the Course Syllabus. Each professor is required to hold office hours for at least 6 hours per week. You can schedule a meeting with your profesor during these hours or by special request at any time.

It is preferable to have office hours in video mode enabling students and professor to interact on a more familiar basis.

BOOKS:

Most books and reading materials are available at no charge by going to the Kolbe Library. Students should expect to spend less than $40 per semester on books.

COST:

The College of St. Thomas More is putting its' commitment to quality education before a desire for dollars. They are to be applauded for their commitment to the New Evangelization and to quality Catholic education that anyone can affford. Normally classes are offered for $400 per 3 credit class. The College and The Kolbe Foubndation have agreed to offer scholarships to anyone needing them. Courses can be offered for as low as $100 for 3 credits.

This is not some gimmick, it is not simply e-mail exchanges disguised as college courses or a bulletin board rarely visited by a professor, nor is it a program where you simply watch videos and take tests or write papers with little real interaction with a professor.

These are real college courses taught by real college professors in real time including real exams graded by the professors themselves. We are proud to cooperate with Thomas More in the Christian Spirit of service before gain.
